ADWDA - Presidents Address
The Australian Dorper/White Dorper Association has been established to incorporate Dorper and White Dorper sheep into the Australian Sheep Industry, making them readily accessible and commercially profitable for those people that utilise these amazing breeds.
On behalf of the inaugural board of the Australian Dorper and White Dorper Association (ADWDA), I welcome you to our website and our organisation and encourage you to participate in the Australian sheep industry through this association to enhance your success and profitability with sheep.
Commercial success stories with Dorper and White Dorper sheep abound in Australia, with producers supplying early finished lambs for market, featuring top quality carcasses, lower input costs for production, easy care livestock management and more lambs produced per breeding animal per annum. People are singing the success of changing to Dorper/White Dorper sheep.
We see this association representing all facets of the sheep industry from producer through to processor, marketer, retailer and consumer, thus benefiting all those involved with producing lamb and sheep meat for the consumer.
The Australian Dorper/White Dorper stud breeders must maintain the outstanding attributes and characteristics that stands the breeds alone with the standards of performance such as do ability in all conditions( especially arid low rainfall areas) non selective grazing, non seasonal joining, ability to rejoin while lactating, and low maintenance. High standards of conformation, colour, structure, should be maintained by stud breeders which breeds on to commercial sheep of high quality, whether they are Dorper/White Dorper flocks or terminal composite flocks.
